CAN YOU HELP PLEASE?

The functioning of the Littlecourt Lunch Club relies on a lot of voluntary help - organisers, cooks and drivers, and although none of these roles are onerous, we do need quite a lot of people to support us. If you could spare just a few hours on a Tuesday lunch time, every few weeks, we would be thrilled to hear from you.

If you're undecided, please do come along and join us for lunch and see what we do. I promise that you'll enjoy a wonderful meal, good company, but that you won't get your arm twisted! Equally, if you know of anyone who you feel might like to come along as a Member, please do let us know as we still have capacity for new Members.

The Littlecourt Lunch Club is a very special part of our mission here at St. Mary's, and has been for the past 33 years. Many of you will already be familiar and involved with the Club, but for those of you who don't know much about us, I wanted to tell you a little about what we do.

We are a Lunch Club run for anyone of retirement age and beyond. We meet every Tuesday at the United Reformed Church (URC) at the bottom of Kippington Road, and the Club is a joint venture between the URC and St. Mary's. Our Members, currently numbering about 40, are delivered to the Lunch Club by Age UK minibuses or by individual volunteer drivers. We all enjoy a fabulous hot two course lunch prepared by one of our 6 cooking teams in the kitchen that morning. The meals are wonderful, fresh, home-cooked food and always receive a lot of praise! The cooking teams are manned again by volunteers from both our Churches.

We have our Christmas lunch, which is an extended get-together with the Amherst children's choir entertaining us. There is roast turkey and all the trimmings; it is an event that always proves to be a really happy one.

Our Members come from all over the Sevenoaks area, with quite a few from our own congregation. For some, Littlecourt is just one of the many social functions they enjoy during their busy week, but for others, the Club offers their only social event of the week, and an opportunity to get out and meet others.
