A brief history of the Ryewood development

The Ryewood development on the former West Kent Cold Store site in Dunton Green has reached the stage where the first new occupants have moved in, and we are looking at ways in which we, as the local parish Church, can play our part in welcoming them and helping them to settle into the local community. We are planning to deliver 'welcome cards' to each household as the homes become occupied.

From the map of our St Mary's Church parish, of Riverhead and Dunton Green, Ryewood is very much in the heart of the parish. Planning consent was granted in 2009 to Berkeley Homes so as to accommodate a mixed-use development comprising 500 one, two, three, four and five bedroom residential units; 2,300sqm of commercial floor space (use class B1) and 460sqm medical/community facility together with associated access roads, car parking, landscaping and open space. There will be 8 phases.

Early phases are now completed, with residents in occupation.  Subsequent phases are being marketed. Overall, the full development is expected to take about 5 years.

One way to initially contact the Church is to use the enquiry form on the 'Contact Us' page of this website; or do come along to one of our Services.  We look forward to meeting you.

Update: Now, at September 2019, the entire development is nearing completion.
