Children's Society details

Over many years, St Mary's Church has been very supportive of The Children's SocietyThe Church of England Children's Society Union is an organisation that has been supporting children for over 100 years. They are keen to demonstrate their faith in action. They are working towards stopping poverty, stopping exploitation, abuse and neglect.

There currently is a campaign supporting how the Children's Society can improve children and young people's well being in the area. If you are interested at all there are more details here.

Fund Raising

Our main fund raiser has been the annual Christingle and Crib Services, with amazing numbers of people attending every Christmas.  Together with Christmas Card sales and the Box Holder scheme, we have often raised well over £1,000 per year.

If anyone would like a Box, to steadily collect their 'odd coins'  (including loose change, foreign currencies, or out of circulation coins and notes) newcomers are always welcome.  Please contact Margaret or Karen.

Prayer Resources

The Children's Society has a monthly prayer e-mail which anybody can sign-up to receive.  This can be a good way to keep up to date with information about the impact Church support is having on the lives of young people, and ideas on how best to pray for them.  The prayers can be accessed via this link.
