Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees

Sevenoaks Welcomes RefugeesThere is a new campaign that Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is organising in June to find more properties that can be rented to vulnerable refugees.

To explain a little more - the Government's global UK Resettlement Scheme has been reopened. That means that selected vulnerable refugees are able to come and build new lives in the UK.

What does that mean to us in Sevenoaks? Well, the alliance of Kent County Council, Sevenoaks District Council, Clarion Housing and Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees has prepared and is ready and waiting to welcome and support some more families. What we need is a few more private sector properties that the Scheme can rent.

To coincide with UK Refugee Week (14-20 June) we are launching a new campaign to find more landlords in the Sevenoaks district area.

We truly would like to meet more landlords to explain this scheme and understand how it works, and how much they will get paid. Most of the information is on our website, including how to contact them, on the Landlords page.

If you are a landlord and are able to help then please contact Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. You might also be interested in what the Children's Society is doing - please see our Children's Society article for more details and links
