Children's Christmas Craft Afternoon

Children's Society Boxes

It’s that time of year when we open the C/Society Boxes, it doesn’t matter how little is in it (every little helps). You are invited for coffee on Wednesday 17th November @ 10 am bringing your box with you. Alternatively I am happy to either collect from Church or your home.

Look forward to seeing you.  If you want me to collect please ring 01732 450408 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Thank You.  Margaret Holman.

The Children's Society Help protect children

For children today, the internet is an important part of life. Their virtual world can feel as real as the physical world all around us.
Most young people use the internet every day. They talk to their friends, play games and learn about the world. For many parents it’s hard to keep their children off their phones or computers- which can be a concern, particularly as there is a darker side to the internet.

Young people can be vulnerable to online grooming, where they are targeted by adults online. This is often to exploit them sexually or criminally.

It’s important that everyone understands the risks young people can face online and what to look out for. Read our article to find out more.

When it comes to keeping young people safe, we can all be part of the solution.

Thank you for your continued support.

Julian Group - Meeting at St Lukes

All are warmly invited to join the Julian Meeting at St Luke’s. This takes place every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm to 2:30pm in the side chapel at St Luke’s Church. It is a time of contemplative prayer with refreshments following. Please see the poster on the noticeboard at the back of Church.

No Sunday Club 24th October

Please note that there is no Sunday Club this Sunday (24th October) due to it being half term. We look forward to welcoming you at our All-Age Service on the 7th November and then for Sunday Club in the Hall on the 14th November.

Church Choir

Our church choir would welcome some more singers. If you enjoy singing, you would be very welcome to come along to a choir practice and give it a try! We’ll soon be looking at Christmas music, and it would be lovely to have more voices. Contact Janet Sharp on 01732 452715 for more details.

Christmas Tree Festival 2021

We are delighted to let you know that the Christmas Tree Festival will be back in church this year, with the necessary Covid-19 safeguards.  As in past years, we will have a gift stall, so if you have any unwanted Christmas or birthday gifts, please think about donating them to our stall.  The more gifts we have to sell, the more money we collect for Age UK, our nominated charity, and the church.  A box will be left in the porch for your donations.  We would love it if you would also think about displaying a tree.  The Festival gives people who wouldn't normally attend, the opportunity to visit our beautiful church.  Finally, if you feel able to help, either setting up on the Friday, serving refreshments or meeting and greeting over the weekend, please let one of the committee members know.  We will then draw up a timed rota for you to add your name. Many thanks. CTF Committee. (Margaret Holman, Sarah Stott, Sarah Allison, Ronnie Todd)

Mothers Union

For many years this church has had a connection with Mother's Union. Before the pandemic there was a group which used to meet. Karen Forster-Pearce is looking at restarting this group with a look to a Team Mother's Union which meets with members from all 3 churches. If you would be interested in being part of this then please have a chat with Karen. Thank you.

St. Luke's book group

With the easing of the Covid restrictions, the Book Group has been able to resume its meetings. We have recently read and discussed Dear England by Stephen Cotterill, the Archbishop of York, and God and Caesar by Shirley Williams.

We are particularly fond of reading biographies and our next book is The Bishops by Frank Longford (LordLongford) and we shall be meeting to discuss this at the church on Friday, 5th November at 12 noon. Anyone who would like to join us will be very welcome.

See here for the St Luke's Website.

Sunday Club

We are looking for two more Parents to be able to help with the running of Sunday Club on a 2nd or 4th Sunday. You would not necessarily have to lead sessions but be there to encourage and help our young people in growing and developing their faith.

If this a way that you think you may be able to help and serve the Church then please have a chat with either Revd. Andy (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), or speak to Tamar or Michele after the service as we would be keen to hear from you.

A DBS check would be required but this can be set up for you

See here for the Sunday Club page.

Tots and Toddlers

Our Parent and Toddler group has reopened.

It meets on Mondays from 1:30-3:30pm. They offer a warm welcome to all babies and pre-schoolers, their parents and carers. Come along for a chat and refreshments, craft songs and play. Pre-booking is required. For more information see our website here or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
