Temenos Chamber Choir performing Rachmaninov’s Vespers

Temenos Chamber Choir will be performing Rachmaninov’s Vespers at St Mary’s, Riverhead, on Saturday March 2nd at 7.30pm. Although Rachmaninov is well-known as a composer of piano music, he also wrote these beautiful choral pieces in the Russian Orthodox tradition. With their rich harmonies and textures they are perfectly suited to the acoustics of St Mary’s. Many of the texts will be familiar, such as the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, but the choir will be singing them in Russian. There will also be some piano solos, performed by one of the basses, young Joseph Charkin.

Full details are on the flyers at the back of the church. Tickets are £15 (£7 Students) from Sevenoaks Bookshop (personal callers, cash or cheques only), or online at  https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/select/TLzuFwxyACbd  (small booking fee applies), or at the door on the night.
