NOMINATED CHARITIES FOR 2013/14
As agreed at the APCM, our four nominated charities for this year are: Hospice in the Weald; Poverty & Hope; Spadework; and Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Service (DAVSS). The third charity being supported is Spadework operating from their site near Offam. Training & Welfare Manager, Gillian Speed, came to speak to us at our 9:30am service on Sunday, 16 February 2014, and there was a retiring collection.
She also brought along a display. Gillian said that trainees were in the age range 18 to 60+. Typically 45 trainees were supported each day, 95 trainees per week, with individual trainees attending between 1 and 5 times per week. The activities were partly funded by social services, and by commercial ventures, but they were also reliant on fundraising and donations. Please consider supporting this good cause.
