'WELCOME ONE AND ALL' PROJECT - TO RECEIVE £10,000
This is the name of our project for which, with the encouragement and help of NW Kent Countryside Partnership, we applied for funding from Tesco's Bags of Help. We want to encourage more of the community (human and wildlife!) to use and enjoy our spacious historical churchyard and garden of remembrance. We were delighted to hear that we were one of three local community groups that had secured funding, although the exact amount was to be decided by in-store voting.
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge. Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.
The public voted in-store from 27 February until 6 March 2016 on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards. We are delighted to have now heard that our project will receive £10,000. Further details about the scope of our project will be given shortly.
